Street food tour between Spaccanapoli and i Tribunali

What you taste, stop by stop
The route crosses the two decumani and ends on via Toledo. Starting from piazza Bellini with meatballs, then via dei Tribunali for fried pizza, a liquor tasting, piazza San Gaetano, via San Gregorio Armeno, and in piazzetta Nilo a dessert or ice cream. From there, you descend onto Spaccanapoli, babà in piazza San Domenico Maggiore, piazza del Gesù Nuovo, and finish towards via Toledo.
What you eat on the street around here, tour or not, is always the same: wallet pizza, fried pizza, fried seafood cup, pasta frittata, riccia and frolla sfogliatella, babà, taralli with lard and pepper, graffe. The list of where you find them along the way is in what to try on the street.
How much walking is involved
Little, with many stops. From piazza Bellini to via Toledo via i Tribunali and Spaccanapoli isn’t even the entire decumanus: the monumental stretch alone is just over a kilometre, and here it’s broken into about ten stops. The challenging part isn’t the distance, it’s the uneven paving and the crowd in via San Gregorio Armeno. How long the entire street is can be found in how long it is.
Food tour or historical tour
They’re two different walks passing through the same stones. The historical tour of the centre enters the Cappella Sansevero and the cloister of Santa Chiara and explains the street; the street food tour doesn’t enter anywhere and fills you up. If you only have one morning, the first; if you’ve already seen the centre or you’re in Naples to eat, the second.
