Private tour of the historic centre: my review
In short. Three hours, a guide just for your group, and it includes three things you won’t find together in other tours: hotel pick-up and drop-off, admission tickets, food and drinks. Rating 4.7 out of 35 reviews, which are very few: the figure should be taken at face value. It remains the only complete private format among the six I follow.
What the tour is like
The meeting point is in front of the red building of the information office in piazza del Gesù Nuovo. Times are stated stop by stop: ten minutes at Gesù Nuovo, a full hour on Spaccanapoli, half an hour on via dei Tribunali, a quarter of an hour at piazza San Domenico Maggiore, a quarter in via San Gregorio Armeno, ten minutes’ walking transfer and a quarter of an hour at the Duomo. That hour on Spaccanapoli is the real difference compared to other tours, which cross it in twenty minutes.

Families and groups of friends who want to set their own pace. Those with mobility issues who need to stop when necessary, without holding up thirty people. Those with just one day who want everything sorted, transfers included. Those who speak German: among the six tours, this is the only one that offers it. Who shouldn’t book it
Those travelling alone or in a pair on a tight budget: the private format is priced per group and for two the cost remains the same, so the centre tour is better. Those who want to read many opinions before deciding, because 35 reviews aren’t enough to form a clear picture; in that case, look at tours with a broader base in all tours.
